Pilgrims Flocking Tungnath to Seek Lord Shiva’s Blessings

While the Chardhams in Uttarakhand have received thousands of pilgrims from the day their portals opened, Tungnath, one of the Shiva Temples and Panch Kedars is also being thronged by hundreds of devotees. Tungnath Temple, which also holds the record of being the highest Shiva Temple in the world is situated in Chopta that falls between Kedarnath and Badrinath. Therefore, pilgrims who are paying a visit to the two dhams, are also making sure to seek the blessing of Lord Shiva at this temple.

The portal of the temple, which also remains closed during the winters, opened on May 5, 2017. The first day, 700 devotees from all over the country are recorded to have visited the temple. Those visiting the shrine reported the scenic beauty of the place with the green meadows and the far-flung yet visible snow-capped mountain peaks; and also made suggestions for improving sanitation quality.
